For well over a decade, the eVero Corporation has been providing Information Technology solutions to organizations serving those who are differently abled. We created the eVero Outreach Program to further our active involvement and commitment to our community. The eVero Outreach Training Program is a result of a collaborative partnership between eVero and its client Organizations. We are dedicated to helping persons with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities (I/DD) be full participants in community life.
The eVero Outreach Program focuses on educating persons with disabilities on marketable job skills. The Program began in an area that eVero knows best– technology. Employees with disabilities are recruited, hired, trained and paid by eVero to become computer basics instructors. Further, additional differently abled individuals from our clients’ Day Programs are identified as students. The Program’s ultimate goal is for these individuals (both instructors and students) to achieve the technical capabilities and personal confidence to both instruct and learn technology-related subject matter within a formal classroom setting.
The Program has proven to be a huge success. The formal curriculum has been expanded to reflect additional skillset development inclusive of job interviewing; preparing the individual participants for the first leg of their journey into the workforce. In addition, the office environment along with the classroom setting provides an alternate surrounding that exposes Program participants to different external factors and influences.
Every year, the Program expands as students complete our courses and several take a step further and learn to become instructors themselves. This speaks volumes to the Program’s impact and potential.
