Celebrating 25 Years of Empowering the I/DD Community

On October 27, 2025, eVero celebrates our 25th birthday! It’s been an amazing 2 1/2 decades of growth. Here are some of the highlights:

In 1995, young entrepreneur Constantine Morris launched Cortex Communications, a company offering dial-up internet and modem access. In 1998, his brother Christos joined him, evolving the business into Cortex Consulting to offer clients more comprehensive technology solutions. This work soon led them to identify a growing need for software services in the Human Services sector, inspiring the creation of Cortex Software.

To better align these efforts and present a unified vision, the brothers consolidated the Cortex ventures in 2000 under a single name—eVero. Derived from the Italian phrase “È vero” (“It’s true”), the name reflected their commitment to authenticity, trust, and purpose. Going forward, eVero had a clear mission: to deliver innovative software solutions tailored to the Human Services industry.

Inspired by the wisdom and compassion of Chairman Russell E. O’Connell, the Morris brothers set out to build a purpose-driven organization rooted in the belief that technology should uplift and empower people.

They recognized that eVero’s greatest strength lies in its people. They understood that a talented, passionate team is essential to keeping our software innovative and responsive to the evolving needs of the Human Services community. Their leadership fostered a culture where team members are encouraged not only to master the technological challenges of the field but also to become fluent in the complex regulatory landscape that shapes it.

Every software module and mobile app is crafted and continuously refined by our in-house experts, with a relentless focus on enhancing features, expanding capabilities, and delivering meaningful improvements throughout the year. By nurturing a spirit of innovation and cross-functional collaboration, our teams are empowered to deliver exceptional solutions and services that truly make a difference.

eVero’s flagship Integrated Care Management software, digitalAGENCY™, debuted in early 2004, offering robust EHR, Case Management, and data capture capabilities tailored to the needs of the I/DD community. Its flexible architecture allowed for customization to meet diverse client requirements.

In 2013, eVero took a bold step forward by launching one of the first fully integrated mobile apps in the I/DD space. While others focused on desktop solutions, eVero’s digitalAGENCY™ Mobile app brought real-time care delivery and documentation to smartphones and tablets.

In 2017, we introduced EMPOWER™ to support the rapid expansion of Self-Direction services. This solution featured comprehensive budget import/export, validation, and creation tools, and a GPS-enabled mobile app with offline functionality—ensuring accessibility and efficiency in the field.

Then, in 2021, we launched the ACCELERATE™ billing module, seamlessly integrating billing functionality within our platform to streamline claim submission and optimize the revenue cycle.

Throughout our journey, the eVero team has remained vigilant in tracking regulatory mandates—such as EVV—and embracing emerging technologies like Artificial Intelligence. We integrate these advancements thoughtfully to enhance our solutions. Data security has always been a cornerstone of our approach, underscored by our achievement of HITRUST R2 certification, which reflects our commitment to exceeding industry standards.

Recognizing that software alone couldn’t achieve their goal of improving the lives of individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities, they emphasized the importance of human connection. This philosophy inspired the launch of eVero Outreach—a program that began by hiring individuals in supported employment roles and evolved into a dynamic initiative offering job readiness workshops, inclusive community events, and hands-on training. Outreach became a bridge to opportunity, confidence, and belonging. Today, eVero Outreach hosts a wide range of impactful activities, including mock interviews, job readiness seminars, and inclusive community events—each designed to foster empowerment and inclusion.

Christos and Costa also believe it’s essential for users to feel the humanity behind the technology they rely on. That belief has shaped eVero’s commitment to providing clients with a comprehensive support system—one that includes people, tools, and resources available throughout every stage of their eVero journey. Today, each account is supported by dedicated Project Managers and Account Managers, ensuring personalized guidance and continuity.

Our continuing education platform, eVero Ed, has grown into a robust resource hub, offering thousands of written and video-based training materials, plus live webinars. Meanwhile, our Help Desk has evolved into a multi-tiered support system, accessible through four convenient channels: phone, web, email, and chat. In 2023, we conducted our first Net Promoter Score (NPS®) survey, achieving an impressive score of 59 at the agency level—well above industry averages for SaaS, software, and IT services.

This year marks a major milestone—25 years of serving our community with purpose, passion, and progress. What began as a vision has grown into a shared journey, built on innovation, collaboration, and a deep commitment to empowering agencies, caregivers, and the individuals they support. This celebration belongs to all of you. Your trust, feedback, and partnership have shaped our path and continue to inspire us to push boundaries, improve outcomes, and uplift our community for the next 25 years and beyond.

We are profoundly grateful for your continued support and look forward to celebrating this achievement together.
